Some images have surfaced over at TFW 2005 which appear to be prototype designs for the movie license toy-line for the now hype rampant Transformers.

Some of the pics do feature annotations intended for later designs and "work in progress" so it could be that these are not final draft. Although the noted changes are pretty minor and these things do look finished to me.

TFW has branded the images with pretty obvious watermarks, but rather than make it look like we're stealing from them we'll post a link for the images instead of reproducing them here. You can find the images here, but let me give you my first impressions on them.

The Optimus Prime design seems to hold with the trend of complexity in the Bumblebee images we posted a few hours ago. They seem to be going for that ultra-high-tech look which I guess is more of a neccessity for realism. Lots of innards, lots of motorized workings but then again, they aren't at the liberty of hand drawn animation here. These things have to be able to actually do what they're gonna do i.e. no magic rubber metal joints. Believability seems paramount (no pun intended).

Next up is an unpainted but nonetheless impressive sculpt of Starsrceam. This one seems to buck the trend a little and looks clunky and awkward but I'm guessing that, seeing as he's a jet, kung-fu isn't gonna be this guys chosen mode of kickassery. But man, if those cannons mount beneath the wings in vehicle mode, that will be badass. He'll chew up the scenery.

Next up the hall of toys is Blackout. Being the Transformers layman that I am, I'm just gonna comment that this dude looks friggin' scary! Looks like a monster and I bet he dished out a buttload of pain. Notice the inset in the top of the coloured drawing which seems to show his head. Nice design.

And finally Skorpinok. He looks very detailed but no view of vehicle mode unfortunately. Would be nice to see for comparison. For now though, it seems like the Transformers steamroller isn't gonna stop as people are eating up this stuff. With more and more of these images and designs being revealed, wouldn't it be in the studio's advantage to just give us what we want while they still have the chance and reveal some of the production designs with a bang? By the time we all see a big reveal it'll be old news. They better clamp down or 'fess up.
