Transporter 3 Carries A New Director

By Rafe Telsch: 2008-01-23 17:36:59
Transporter 3 Carries A New Director I never expected Jason Statham’s Transporter to turn into a franchise. At best the first movie seemed like an action movie riddled with plot-holes; a stand-alone picture that, at best, showcased Statham as a potential new entry on the action scene. Instead it’s already borne one sequel, with a third picture apparently in the works.

Unlike the previous Transporter movies, director Louis Leterrier apparently won’t be involved with Transporter 3. Instead, Coming Soon reports that Olivier Megaton will be holding the reins on the picture. Megaton’s biggest credit to date is second unit director on Hitman - you know, the movie that Statham should have starred in?

No cast information has been disclosed, although FilmsActu reports that secondary casting will occur this summer in Paris. This leads to the assumption that Statham will be back as the title character, although a change in director from the previous films could mean taking the franchise in a new direction, so Statham’s involvement isn’t necessarily guaranteed.
