Traveling With Jennifer Aniston

Traveling With Jennifer Aniston When you mention Jennifer Aniston, people seem to either think of their favorite episode of friends, or some awful thing they read about her in the tabloids. Cut it out. Friends was an overrated trainwreck towards the end and her trainwreck marriage to Brad Pitt is none of yoru damn business.

The best thing about Aniston is the interesting and sometimes brave choices she’s made with her post-sitcom film career. Ok, she’s made a couple of blockbuster filmmaking for idiots projects, but there’s nothing wrong with picking up a paycheck. Aside from Bruce Almighty and Along Came Poly several years ago, she’s gone out of her way to ignore the girl next door image that made her famous and simply do stuff that’s… different. It doesn’t always work and sometimes moviegoers don’t embrace it, but she doesn’t seem to give a damn and goes right on making oddly downbeat movies like The Good Girl and dark, dark comedies like The Break-Up.

You’d think she’d be tired of nobody showing up to watch her work by now and do some sort of horrible rom-com. Raise your hand if you saw Friends with Money. Nobody? It’s a wonder the tabloids are still hounding her. Nobody seems to be watching her anywhere outside of the pages of the National Enquirer.

That trend isn’t likely to end any time soon, and as someone who’s loved a lot of the stuff you haven’t seen her in, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Variety says Jen is teaming up with Aaron Eckhart for a downbeat drama called Traveling.

In it, Aniston plays a floral designer who works in a Seattle hotel where a charismatic self-help guru conducts a weekend grief seminar. The meet, and instead of turning into a Mike Myers movie or one of those aforementioned romantic comedies, she figures out the guy is a total hypocrite. Not sure how you get a drama out of that, but as long as there’s no kissing I’m all for it. It certainly fits in with Aniston’s other not-so-blockbuster-friendly movie choices. Aaron Eckhart has made out with enough beautiful women thanks. Leave something for the rest of us bud.
