Though director Terrance Malick's filmography is brief, his influence is boundless -- touching a few of the most promising filmmakers, including David Gordon Green and Paul Thomas Anderson. Days of Heaven alone is an American classic. Though The New World may have fumbled, his latest project Tree of Life is starting to come together as the a major piece of the casting puzzle is put into place with the addition of Jessica Chastain, according to Variety.
Details about Tree of Life are sketchy. Colin Farrell was in at one time, as was Heath Ledger, but now, Brad Pitt is taking the starring role, with Chastain at his side. Other than that, Variety recounts the plot as a loss of innocence as seen through the eyes of Pitt and Chastain's child and that the there is a literal Tree of Life, as seen on YouTube. Sean Penn is also set as a supporting role. More details as they grow.
