While most films being shown in the Tribeca Film Festival are looking to reel in distributors, Moon is one of the lucky few that already has a release planned. After chatting with the film’s director, Duncan Jones, who also happens to be David Bowie’s son, I can see why. Jones is so passionate about this project, and about film in general, that the thing has to be good. My festival experience may have been consumed by red carpet coverage, but this is the one film I made sure I was seeing before the festival’s end.
Jones talked a bit about what drew him to filmmaking, how he came up with the plot of Moon and how terrifying but exciting it is to be part of the Tribeca Film Festival. Sting, whose wife, Trudie Styler is one of the film’s producers, took a quick trip down the carpet followed by the movie’s star, Sam Rockwell. Unfortunately, Rockwell arrived a bit too close to the film’s start time to answer all of my questions, but he did tell Reel Talk how excited he was to be part of a film festival in his hometown and about the film’s eerie storyline.
