We’re just over a week from the release of Twilight, the teen vampire movie that will have girls shrieking to theaters, but the young consumers have already made their dollar bills count. The soundtrack for the movie has already hit #1 according to Billboard Magazine - a rare feat for a soundtrack to accomplish before the accompanying movie has been released.

Many sources are reporting this as if it’s shocking news, but I can’t even pretend to be the least bit surprised. I’ve seen the obsessive twi-heads… twilighters? twilight moms? But that doesn’t include the original target audience, does it?... anyway, I’ve seen them in action, from the room full of screaming fans at San Diego Comic Con to the onslaught in our comments section any time we malign their beloved franchise. Did anyone doubt they would bring their buying power to the movie’s soundtrack?

Just go ahead and sign next weekend over to Twilight, because I’m convinced some of the rabid fans will probably just camp out inside the theater to watch the movie repeatedly. To help tide them over until the film reel plays, the movie will grace the cover of USA Weekend, along with an exclusive poster.
