How excited are you to learn about an upcoming samurai-western starring someone who was in Joan of Arcadia? Is the excitement-o-meter reaching triple jiggowat levels? What if you didn’t know his role, the plot of the movie, who wrote the movie, who was going to direct it, the budget, or any of the other actors. Still pretty pumped up? If your answer is “yes,” then Michael Welch has the movie for you.
Welch, a television actor who has a role in the vampires for the Hills fans movie, Twilight, was talking to the MTV Movies Blog and let loose very little info about a possible upcoming role. He said, “I actually just got an offer for a post-apocalyptic, samurai, futuristic western.” Sounds intriguing, tell us more! “It looks awesome. I just read the script the other day, it looks so cool!” Oh, it’s going to be one of those cool/awesome movies. I’m down with that.
Of course, I’m not quite as down with it as the MTV writer. She seems to have this as Tobey McGuire in Spider-Man all over again. Although Welch notes it probably won’t be something to look for until 2011 at the earliest and says he doesn’t know which role he will play, the writer says the release (of a movie we know absolutely nothing about) “could cement him as one of Hollywood’s rising talents.” Obviously it could. It could also go straight to DVD, or only get released at the Bulgarian Film Festival, or his unknown role could have two lines before he get’s hacked up by the lead character, Shane Six-Gun Nakamura, samurai/western hero. Look for some obviously unimportant information about this movie (name, plot, stars, writer, director, budget) at some point in the future.
