Aaron Eckhart’s brilliant turn in The Dark Knight as Harvey Dent has finally earned him the kind of career he deserves. Hollywood has sat up, taken notice, and now they’re giving him the lead in a big-budget film.

The movie according to HR, is a sci-fi action flick called Battle: Los Angeles. The plot is pretty standard alien invasion stuff. A marine platoon, led by Aaron Eckhart, must battle attacking aliens in the streets of Los Angeles. Odds that they get help from local gangbangers? I’d say almost certain.

I know, it sounds like a pretty empty, lame flick. Look, give Eckhart this one. His spent his entire career doing low-budget, smart, challenging, and probably low-paying indie movies. Every once in awhile, you have to let the guy do The Core to make a little cash. He deserves it. Go get paid Harvey Dent. We won’t hold it against you.
