Two Funny Ladies Join Sandler's Next Comedy![]()
Until now Adam Sandler's next project has seemed largely like a sausage festival-- it'll be him, Chris Rock, Kevin James and David Spade sitting around and cracking jokes. But now two women who have both demonstrated their comedic chops will be jumping on board, meaning the boys may finally have to compete for the laughs.
Maya Rudolph and Salma Hayek, along with another SNL alum, Colin Quinn, have all signed on to take part in the untitled film. Variety reports that Hayek and Rudolph will both play wives, Hayek paired with Sandler and Rudolph with Rock. Quinn's role in the film is not explained. The film is about five high school best friends reuniting on a Fourth of July weekend, which suggests the film will be plotless enough to give lots of room for riffing and improvising among the main actors. That's fine by me-- these guys have always been fun to work together even when the movies were awful, and I'm always ready to see any proof that Rob Schneider is worth keeping around. Adding funny women into the cast (and if you don't think Salma Hayek is funny, watch some of the recent episodes of 30 Rock) just adds more variety, and more potential to make this actually good. |
