Two New Writers Brought On For Clash Of The Titans 2![]()
Louis Leterrier isn't the only creator of Clash of the Titans who will be sitting out the sequel. Whether writers Travis Beacham and Phil Hay were burned by the fact that the final product made no sense or the studio blamed them for the problems, the writing partners won't be back for Clash 2; instead, THR reports, Warner Bros. has brought Dan Mazeau and David Leslie Johnson on board to collaborate with Greg Berlanti, who started working on a sequel script not long after the first film debuted.
Mazeau and Johnson, unlike Beacham and Hay, have no history writing together; Mazeau worked on The Flash and Jonny Quest scripts for the studio, and Johnson wrote both last year's bizarre horror film The Orphan and the upcoming The Girl with the Red Riding Hood, which will star Amanda Seyfried. Apparently the idea behind bringing in Mazeau and Johnson, with their varied backgrounds, is that each writer can tackle the different beats of the story-- the action, the romance, the banter-- and bring their A-game to their respective sections. Presumably Berlanti, who also worked on The Flash and directed the upcoming Life as We Know It for WB, will be shepherding the whole thing. The simple fact that this movie won't have time to go through the development hell suffered by the first one might mean better results this time around, but I've still got my doubts that there's any more story worth telling in the strange, inconsistent world set up by the first film. |
