Chris Columbus is working on a modern day movie about Greek gods and he’s already found actors to populate Mount Olympus.

It’s called Percy Jackson and Variety says in it Uma Thurman will play Medusa, Pierce Brosnan is Chiron, Sean Bean is Zeus, former Journeyman Kevin McKidd is Poseidon, and Melina Kanakerides is Athena. Toplining is Logan Lerman as Poseidon’s 12-year-old half-human son, on a quest across modern day America to save his mother, return Zeus’s lightning, and prevent a heavenly war.

Columbus hasn’t directed anything since Rent in 2005. Maybe you've noticed that the world has been a little less mediocre lately. Well I hope you’ve enjoyed the respite because counting Percy Jackson he now has no fewer than three movies in the pipeline, slated for release in the next couple of years. Welcome back mediocrity.
