Uma Thurman Throws A Party

By Ed Perkis: 2008-04-17 17:54:59
Uma Thurman Throws A Party Usually when Hollywood types have kids they have nannies to go along with them and help their personal assistants manage the star’s busy, busy life. Most mothers don’t have nannies or personal assistants or $15 million dollars in the bank, so taking care of their kids is a much bigger challenge. It’s also ripe for comedy, at least that’s the theory behind Motherhood.

Variety reports that an independent comedy called Motherhood is being made with big star Uma Thurman (is Uma Thurman still a big star, it’s not really clear) in the lead. She will play a mother of two who tries to throw a birthday party for her six year old and has all sorts of impediments. Those impediments are what we like to call, “life without an entourage.” There is also the fact that she lives in New York City which has its own hilarious challenges. Anthony Edwards will play Thurman’s husband and Minnie Driver has been cast as her best friend.

The film, which has a pretty small budget of $10 million, is written and directed by Katherine Dieckmann. She is well known as the director of Diggers with Paul Rudd. I guess she’s not well known for that, but the movie was pretty good. This does not strike me as something I’d want to go see. I don’t have much Uma interest and the subject matter isn’t that fascinating. I have two kids of my own that provide plenty of unintentional humor, I don’t need it from this movie.
