Universal Buys Agony

By Josh Tyler: 2006-08-28 00:00:00
Universal Buys Agony Screenwriter Scott Nimerfro has sold a horror pitch called Agony to Universal Pictures for Scott Stuber and Mary Parent to produce. Nimerfro is no stranger to horror, having cut his teeth cranking out crazy plots for HBO's Tales from the Crypt and the newer versions of The Outer Limits. He may however, be a stranger to good horror. Those newer Outer Limits episodes haven't exactly been gold.

The Hollywood Reporter says Agony involves college campuses and urban legends, but details on the project don't get much more thick than that. With a description like that, it sounds a lot like a remake of well, 1998's Urban Legends.

Urban Legends, much like those Outer Limits episodes Nimerfro was involved in wasn't exactly what you'd call good. Maybe he's found a way to make it good, or maybe from Universal's perspective it doesn't even matter if it is good the way teenagers have been gobbling up horror movies lately. Just make it PG-13 and put Hillary Duff in it and you'll have a cash bonanza.
