There’s a lot of crossover between the audiences of Twilight and High School Musical, so it sort of makes sense that Summit might try to get some of the Disney kids involved in their New Moon sequel. MTV reports that HSM's Vanessa Hudgens is in the running for a part in New Moon, apparently she’s already auditioned for a role.
They claim she may be in the running for the role of Leah, a female werewolf. As a werewolf, she’d have to be able to bear her fangs and play aggressive, something I find it all but impossible to imagine Vanessa doing. Of course maybe that doesn’t matter, it’s not like the werewolves or vampires, even the nasty ones, were really all that scary in the first film anyway. The chief requirement for casting in a Twilight movie seems to be possessing the kind of face that belongs on the cover of Tiger Beat. Do they still have Tiger Beat? Well if they do, I’m sure Vanessa Hudgens has been on it.
