Vince Vaughn may be tired of crashing weddings and dodging questions about his possible stroll down the aisle with Jennifer Aniston. The notorious funny guy just might be ready to simmer down and get serious. Don’t worry, it’s just for a role.

Hollywood Reporter shared the news that Vaughn is being eyed for the new political drama Against All Enemies, from hotshot director Paul Haggis (Crash). While no offer has been laid out on the table just yet, he has talked with Haggis about playing former Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill in the film, based on Richard Clarke’s bestseller.

The book follows the Bush administration’s reaction to Al-Qaeda before and after 9/11. Sean Penn, who cast Vaughn in his upcoming Into The Wild, will be playing Clarke in the film. After the unfair bashing of Vaughn’s recent film The Break-Up, a change of pace just might be what the doctor ordered.
