Up until this week, Watchmen has looked like a sure bet as one of the year’s best films. Now though I must admit: I’m feeling less certain. There’s those early reviews which have been pretty mixed and then there’s this: Tons and tons of clips released from the film over the past week, all of which have seemed at best, a little awkward. It’s as if they were directed by a guy who knows slow motion action, but who has no idea how to handle the heavier stuff Watchmen contains.

I want to believe it’s all going to work as brilliantly in context as it does in the film’s fantastic trailers. It must work better context. I refuse to give in to fear.
