OK, so maybe you're writing off Hotel for Dogs as a generic kid's movie that's coming out in January, a month in which nothing good comes out. And maybe you're right-- I haven't seen it yet. But there was definitely some imagination that went into making it, from the inventions the kids dream up to keep the dogs entertained to the on-set trainers who taught the dogs to do things like sit at dinner tables, run on treadmills, and use toilets.
Below are two behind-the-scenes featurettes that explain how it all happened, courtesy of Paramount. There are also three short clips from the movie that demonstrate how some of the tricks and inventions are used in the movie, including the doggie toilet and the border collie who was trained to run loops around his human co-stars. Dog lovers will enjoy them for sure, especially dog lovers like me who have no way of having a dog themselves, and choose instead to wistfully watch videos of dogs instead. Sigh. Check out the clips below.
