When our Games Editor Pete Haas reviewed the Sucker Punch game inFamous in May, he wrote that it was a more narrative-driven experience than most games, and some of the art in it was so gorgeous that he wouldn't be surprised to see a graphic novel adaptation. Well, they've gone and done it one better-- inFamous will become a movie at Sony, now that the studio has picked up a pitch from screenwriter Sheldon Turner.

Turner got paid seven figures for the deal, according to THR; he's got a scattered history, putting his name to both The Longest Yard remake as well as the upcoming Jason Reitman film Up in the Air. He told THR, "What excited me most about the game was it was the first of which I've come across that had a big idea and a character arc. It is, I believe, the future of gaming. The game, while big and fun, is at its core a love ballad to the underachiever, which is what our hero, Cole McGrath, is."

Read the rest of Pete's review for a good sense of what the game is all about, and what its movie potential might be. The story follows a bike messenger who is imbued with supernatural electric powers when an explosion happens at the center of his city, which also causes the city to go in lockdown, martial law mode. Sounds fun and post-apocalyptic, which most video game adaptations at least start off being. Maybe this one can actually keep the energy going even when you're not holding the controller in your hand.
