Vince Vaughn And Ron Howard Commit To Infidelity![]()
With Fred Claus, Four Christmases, and Couples Retreat as the last three entries on Vince Vaughn's resume, the man needs to be in something good, in a hurry. Sure, all three were considered successful at the box office, but they also average out to a nice and sturdy 19% on Rotten Tomatoes (even adding their scores together isn't enough for a fresh rating). So what's a man to do? Return to a director he has done great work with? That won't work - David Dobkin directed both Wedding Crashers and Fred Claus. Reteam with an old acting friend? Nope - Jon Favreau worked with him in the two most recent disasters. How about a new direction? That's the ticket!
Vaughn and Ron Howard have both signed on to an untitled dark comedy about infidelity that will be backed by Universal, according to THR. The script, written by Allan Loeb with contributions from Vaughn, centers on a man who discovers that his best friend's wife is cheating on him and has to figure out exactly what he should do with that information. Sounds hilarious. While Vince doesn't really have much range (cocky smartass has been his go-to move for years now), he's consistently funny. It'll be nice to go back to laughing with him instead of laughing at him. When I think of Vince Vaughn now, I get an image of him watching Bradley Cooper in The Hangover and screaming, "it should have been me." |
