Moviehole reports that Vinnie Jones has joined the cast of Smokin’ Aces 2. What’s sort of hard to believe is that he wasn’t in the first movie. I thought Hollywood was contractually required to cast Vinnie Jones’s buzz cut in every vaguely gritty, shoot-em-up movie?

In addition to a career of mediocre shoot-em-ups, Jones was also in X-Men 3. That’s the place most of the movie going masses are likely to know him from. In Smokin’ Aces 2, a prequel to the original Joe Carnahan helmed movie, he’ll play an assassin named McTeague, on the trail of a witness under guard. Hey, that sounds a lot like the plot of the first movie.

Also in the film according to MH is newcomer Martha Higareda, as well as previous Smokin’ actors Maury Sterling (who played Lester Tremor) and Christopher Holley (Beanie in the first movie). They join Tom Berenger, David Richmond-Peck, Sofia Vergara, Michael Parks, Merwin Mondesir, and Tommy Flanagan who are already on board.
