After the flop that is Superhero Movie I’m looking forward to a real superhero parody to wash the taste from my mouth. Thankfully, Will Smith’s Hancock is hitting theaters later this year. Instead of spoofing some other movie’s story, Smith will portray a burned out superhero, down on his luck.
Much like The Dark Knight has viral websites promoting Harvey Dent for District Attorney or asking “why so serious,” it looks like superhero Hancock is developing his own fanbase. Hancock was Here.com is devoted to mapping out sightings of the hero’s adventures and making sure the world knows he’s still a hero.
There’s not a ton to the site right now – not because it’s new but because Hancock inadvertently destroyed the building the sites servers were in. Actually, it’s pretty funny to read the few stories there and all the collateral damage that happens from Hancock’s endeavors. This looks like it’ll be a recurring joke in he movie, with one of the trailer’s clips (Hancock saving a beached whale) appearing in a “fan post” on the website.
