The best HHG resource on the web, Planet Magrathea has confirmed it. Stephen Fry will be the voice of “The Book” itself. Fry’s voice is apparently well known in Great Britain, as a standard on radio and television, and as the guy who reads Harry Potter on audio books.

Stephen Fry was actually a friend of Douglas Adams, and has long been the rumored fan choice for the role, so having him voice the Guide seems appropriate. Commenting on his new gig, Fry had this to say: ”As a friend of Douglas' and a besotted fan of The Hitchhiker‘s Guide to the Galaxy, being asked to do the voice of the Guide is like having your birthday on Christmas Day, discovering a winning lottery ticket in your stocking and having chocolate poured all over you." He sounds like the perfect choice.
