Wall-E, Slumdog, Man On Wire Win Editing Prizes![]()
Wall-E won't get to make history this Sunday by beating out the non-animated competition, because the Academy is stupid, stuck in the past, poopyheads, etc. But the editors guild isn't nearly so stodgy, and awarded Wall-E the prize for best editing in a musical or comedy-- the first time an animated film has nabbed the prize.
The drama statue went to Slumdog Millionaire, of course, and provided Danny Boyle isn't suddenly revealed to be an alien monster, the movie will win the editing prize on Oscar night as well. Variety also notes that Man on Wire, the odds-on favorite for the Best Documentary prize, also won an editing statue in its category. So the ACE Eddies, by sticking with the consensus like everyone else has this year, manages to predict three winners in different categories for Oscar night-- Best Documentary, Best Animated Feature and Best Picture. I realize this statement may come back to haunt me, but can we get a little excitement here? |
