Warner Bros. And IMAX Headed Back Unda Da Sea![]()
I was totally sucked into the Discovery Channel’s Planet Earth series, like everyone else in the world, so I don’t even feel geeky admitting that the idea of a 3D movie about the deep sea sounds exciting. Warner Bros. and IMAX have been teaming up for a sequel to their hit giant-screen movie Deep Sea 3D, and now they’re given it an official title, Under the Sea 3D.
Not only that, but The Hollywood Reporter tells us the film will look at the impact of global warming on the ocean. Given the footage we’ve seen of coral reefs shriveling up and dying due to overheated ocean waters, it seems this movie could be seriously enlightening, as well as seriously depressing. These kinds of movies aren’t exactly the Beowulf kind of 3D, and likely won’t be seen at every multiplex in your city. Still, the last film these guys made together made $60 million, which is no small feat for a nature documentary. Taking on a hot topic like global warming is bound to only make more people interested. That is, if they’re not so depressed by the idea of watching ocean wildlife die that they don’t want to go. |
