Warners' Bollywood Court Case Thrown Out![]()
A quick lesson for Fox here regarding their ridiculous Watchmen lawsuit I think. A court in India today threw out Warner Bros. attempt to block the release of family movie Harri Puttar because of their claim it infringed on Harry Potter copyright which we reported on a few weeks back.
Laying the smackdown on the studio pretty hard, the court revealed that Warners had known about the movie's title since 2005 and had purposely waited until just before the release of the movie to bring any kind of action. The court, granting audiences more intelligence than the studio, said that most people were intelligent enough not to confuse the two and promptly dumped the case. Lets face it, there's as much chance that the film company was just at the name association game as not, but then many many movie-makers before have done in the past without facing the wrath of action. Did anyone in the studios try to sue the makers of Snakes on a Train or Transmorphers? With the key reason the case was thrown out being that Warners had deliberately waited for nearly three years before taking any action, could this kind of decision be reflected in the case of Fox, ironically, suing Warners to block the release of their movie a whole three years after Fox knew it was being made and a meagre six months before release. |
