Watch A Public Service Announcement From The David Fincher-Produced The Goon
It’s distressing that there hasn’t been more forward motion on a feature film adaptation of Eric Powell’s The Goon. Despite having David Fincher on board as a producer, the project has been stuck in development hell and unable to find financing. At last year’s Comic Con, hilarious test footage featuring the voices of Clancy Brown and Paul Giamatti was released online, but still we live in a world without a feature length version. Fortunately, today we get another brief glimpse of what someday could be.
Powell recently Tweeted test footage from the project that features Goon in a public service announcement about the undead, or, as he calls them, slack-jaws. It’s short, but really funny and definitely worth a watch. Check it out: As mentioned before, this is just test footage, but the animation still looks awesome. Back in January, Fincher said that the biggest thing holding up the project is its more adult themes, saying, “Animation that isn’t singing furry animals is hard.” He was still shopping it around at that point, and hopefully he still is. Make your voices heard, people! Get this movie made! |
