Watch Ant-Man Fly In Latest Footage From Marvel's Blockbuster

Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang doesn’t have any superpowers of his own, apart from the suit that lets him shrink down to the size of an ant. He can fly, he just needs his trusty steed by his side. In the latest footage from Ant-Man, which takes the form of a 30-second TV spot, we see Lang take to the skies with his winged ant and a small army of his flying friends.

Ant-Man flies

Everyone needs a sidekick. Batman has Robin, Iron Man has…well, had J.A.R.V.I.S., Thor has Lady Sif and the Warriors Three, and Ant-Man, appropriately, has an ant. Who needs a dire wolf or Drogon from Game of Thrones when you have an ant? Ant-Man’s super-suit designed by Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man played by Michael Douglas, allows the wearer to command ants as an added bonus to the whole size manipulation thing. We saw Lang use it in the first trailers to have ants spin a quarter on his car’s dashboard, and it’s presumably how he’s going to get his mount.

In addition to these aerial acrobatics, the new Ant-Man TV spot features some other new footage, including Lang building a bridge out of ants and a shirtless Paul Rudd staring longingly into the eyes of Evangeline Lilly, who plays Pym’s daughter Hope van Dyne. Now that Avengers: Age of Ultron is over and done, and we’re getting much closer to Ant-Man’s release date on July 17, we’ll be seeing a lot more TV spots like this. Marvel has never been one to shy away from the marketing materials. Watch the full spot after the jump.

Ant-Man tells the story of Lang, a reformed master thief who’s enlisted by Pym for a special task. His technology has been stolen by Darren Cross (Corey Stoll), who plans on taking his company in a villainous new direction and selling the tech to make shrinking soldiers. It’s Lang’s job to utilize his criminal past and snatch the suit right out from under Cross’s nose. Unfortunately, Cross has already built himself a suit of his own and is ready to do battle against Lang. The cast also includes Michael Pena, Bobby Cannavale, T.I., and Judy Greer.

Peyton Reed is directing Ant-Man for Marvel, though parts of Edgar Wright’s original story treatment are still in tact. Along with Joe Cornish, Wright will be credited with composing the story, while Wright, Cornish, Adam McKay, and Paul Rudd are all credited with the screenplay. The film’s tumultuous making-of process is no secret, especially to fans of Marvel and Wright, but we’re hoping the comic book movie giants pull off another blockbuster hit.
