Watch Captain America: The Winter Soldier's 10-Second Trailer Preview

Yes, the teaser-for-a-teaser trend is one of the most insidious and obnoxious things that Internet fan culture has helped create. And yet, I challenge you not to watch this 10-second tease of the Captain America: The Winter Soldier trailer, which is due online tomorrow.

A list, in order of appearance, of things this teaser reveals:

--Cap still looks good in a leather jacket.

-- The Helicarrier, or a giant Helicarrier-like vehicle, is back.

--Washington, D.C. sure is gorgeous this time of year.

-- Nick Fury looks extra-menacing when bathed in shadow.

-- The Winter Soldier (whom we only see from behind, blowing up a car) could use a comb.

-- Black Widow, on the other hand, has gotten a major Jennifer Aniston style blowout since The Avengers

-- Cap can run fast with the shield both in and out of his costume.

Yes, that's essentially telling us nothing-- welcome to the world of the 10-second teaser. But we already know enough about The Winter Soldier, which arrives in theaters next April, to put most of this stuff into context. We've been told it's essentially a two-hander between Cap and Black Widow. We've been told it's more like a political thriller than any previous Marvel films have been. We know that directors Joe and Anthony Russo, TV veterans who helped create Community, are promising some questions about Black Widow's actual loyalty. And we know that, as far as the official Marvel party line is concerned, this is all they're willing to tell us about what's actually happening in the movie:

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

Check back tomorrow for the full trailer when it debuts, and in the meantime you can check out some brand new images that also emerged online today.
