Millions have seen Da Vinci’s paintings, but no one has ever seen him paint. Imagine watching Beethoven compose a symphony or seeing Martin Scorsese direct a movie. One of those things is possible. Yep, it’s the last one.

Paramount has released tons of extensive, behind the scenes footage from the set of Shutter Island in which you can watch the great Martin Scorsese at work on his craft. The clips below show him doing what he does best, taking charge on a set and making his vision for whatever he happens to be filming happen.
