David Hayter didn't really have a great run with his most recent screenwriting effort, Watchmen, but the experienced screenwriter is confidently going ahead with his next venture, forming Dark Hero Studios with producer Benedict Carver.
The goal of the studio, according to Variety, will be to create all kinds of sci-if, action and horror projects for film, TV, Internet and video games. First up for the two of them will be Slaughter's Road, Hayter's directorial debut, which will be a werewolf thriller starring Sarah Connor Chronicles actor Thomas Dekker.
Hayter also had a few words for those who are willing to write off Watchmen as a failure, just over a week into its run. "It's odd for a picture to gross $63 million in its first four days and have people wonder if it's a failure." Regardless of how you want to classify Watchmen, it's a smart move for Hayter to get moving on his own projects, rather than tying his fate to giant superhero movies with a limited margin for success.
