It’s only Monday, and I’ve already found my biggest beat down story of the week. The Wayans brothers are making a cop action movie parody. Because we haven’t had enough of those. Because we haven’t had enough of the Wayans too.

Keenan, Shawn, and Marlon Wayans have signed a deal with Paramount, according to Variety, which will have them writing and starring in a cop movie spoof in the vein of their Scary Movie franchise. Cop Movie would seem to be the obvious title. More recently, this movie was also titled Hot Fuzz.

The Scary Movie franchise has made a lot of money for everyone involved, but most attempts to apply that formula to other genres have flopped. Epic Movie, Date Movie, pick your parody, they’ve all died quick deaths at the theaters. Of course they didn’t have those genius Wayans boys involved in them, and that’s probably the difference. Audiences seem to love them, no matter how much their movies stink.
