Weekend Box Office - Just Go Just Tops Justin![]()
Justin Bieber is the hot ticket, right down to his snappy (and admittedly funny) Super Bowl spot. But a biopic movie about the latest artist to get cranked out by the music industry's pop machine wasn't big enough to take number one this weekend.
Instead, Adam Sandler's latest offering Just Go With It narrowly beat the Bieber with $31 million to take the top spot. Justin Bieber: Never Say Never fell just shy into second place with $30 million. But backer Paramount isn't shedding any tears. Bieber's flick ran a tab of only $13 million, making it a twice over profit turner and a nice Valentines gift for Paramount execs. Gnomeo and Juliet was a little short on love at the box office its first weekend out. Though the $25 million it banked isn't bad for a second-string animated movie, it's no reason to dance in the streets either. Expect it to fall off the map in a hurry, taking with it much chance of major fincancial success. The fourth new release this weekend, The Eagle settled for a very distant fourth place with $8 million. The obscure Roman period flick failed despite the presence of Channing Tatum. It also marks the lowest opening for a Channing vehicle with the exception of 2008's Stop Loss, his other career attempt at a "serious" role. Apparently everyone loves him for his abs, but not his acting chops. Someone get him a wet wife beater t-shirt and a part in another dancing movie, stat!
