Weekend Box Office: A Moment Of Silence

In the wake of the terrible shooting at a Colorado screening of The Dark Knight Rises it was announced earlier this weekend that out of respect Warner Brothers would not be releasing their box office numbers for the film.

To show their support for the decision, and out of respect for those working through the tragedy of this weekend's events, all other studios are also withholding their numbers according to a posting at The Numbers.

It's comforting to see an entire industry willing to set aside its own well being and celebrations of success to make room for something far more important. No estimates, no guessing. Just a simple, meaningful, moment of silence.

To that end, when the moment is right and numbers are released we'll have them for you here, but until then I hope you'll also take a moment to pray for, think of, or however you express your condolences for those mourning this weekend.
