Weekend Box Office: The Curse Of Harrison Ford
It's the curse of Harrison Ford. When he makes a really crappy movie like, let's say, the latest Indiana Jones debacle, people show up in droves to hand it an obscene box office success. When he actually acts in something worth seeing, like this weekend's Morning Glory, audiences can't be bothered.
Morning Glory banked an unimpressive $9 million this weekend for a sad fifth place debut. Adding insult to injury, Skyline, which is being hailed by CB's Mack Rawden as the worst movie of the year, topped that earning $11 million against its $10 million budget. Greenlight on a painful sequel is no doubt not far away.
Denzel Washington saw better success this weekend. His newest entry Unstoppable brought in $23 million for second place. But the really unstoppable force at the movies was Megamind. The blue headed super villain held the first place spot for a second weekend, earning another $30 million. And it's a good thing too. Even with international sales rolled in the movie is still shy of recovering its $130 million budget.
