It was slim pickings yet again at the box office this weekend, but what with it being Super Bowl weekend I don't think anyone really cared. The Messengers took top honors, scaring up $14.5 million. Crazy women running around tormenting each other (i.e. Because I Told You So), opened at number two with $13 million. For the full top ten, check out the chart below.
Next week doesn't have much to offer either, though we won't have a Prince half-time to show to fill the gap (actually, that's probably a good thing). The Hannibal Lecter saga gets milked yet again with Hannibal Rising, the inspirational story of how a disturbed young serial cannibalist/murderer came into his own. It takes on Eddie Murphy playing a cast full of disturbing loser characters in Norbit. No matter which movie wins, we all lose.
