Weekend Box Office - Up Soars Again![]()
Friday night was a great night for The Hangover. Like its own version of a drunken adventure the movie had an impressive night on the town and then in true fashion suffered an awful morning after. Unfortunately, the hangover experienced by the movie wasn't nearly as funny as the one enjoyed by the guys in the movie.
The Hangover looked to be a solid number one, but as it declined over the rest of the weekend Up enjoyed a hefty surge of box office cash on Saturday to send it back to the top of the heap. The Pixar flick soared to $44 million leaving Hangover just a million behind in a very narrow second place. The gap into third place was a more painful one, marking yet another bad weekend at the box office for Will Ferrell. Land of the Lost, which faces a daunting $100 million budget made less than $20 million. But it could have been worse. Nia Vardalos' latest movie venture, My Life In Ruins landed in a distant ninth place with only $3.2 million. UPDATE! A last minute Sunday surge may have pushed The Hangover into the #1 spot.
