Weird Science Remake Brought To Life![]()
Amidst all of the gossip on direct-to-DVD sequels of 80s classis, including Goonies 2, The Lost Boys 2 and Gremlins 3 (hopefully the last batch), a remake of Weird Science would be given that same treatment in a perfect world. But as big name studios are quick to point out, we aren’t that lucky, reports
The original John Hughes classic about two losers whose dreams come true when a super model they created on a computer comes to life was released in 1985. Its popularity spawned movie imitators such as Mannequin and Mannequin 2: On the Move, as well as a short-lived T.V. series of the same name. As with most 80s movies, your memory of Weird Science ages better than the film itself. The movie is best watched on cable at 3 a.m. when you’re drunk and need a reason to fall asleep. With a few hot teen stars and endless pop culture references, the Weird Science remake has the potential to transfer the Hughes-pulp, teenager spirit into a soulless post-Y2k teen movie. |
