People were shocked a few months back when it was announced that Disney would not be participating at San Diego Comic Con 2011. Despite having multiple properties that would be right at home at the convention - including the highly-anticipated Marvel Studio movies - the Mouse House decided to pass. The reason behind the decision was that the studio hosts its own event, the D23 Expo, and this year footage from titles including from The Avengers, John Carter, Monsters University, Oz The Great and Powerful, Brave, and The Muppets will be shown at the Anaheim Convention Center. Now the time has come. The doors have opened, the fans are rushing in, and I'll be here all weekend to report on everything I see.

Just as I did in late July during Comic Con, my first stop in the convention center was the exhibition hall, and while touring around the massive place I decided to take photos of all the cool stuff I saw. Check out some select shots (including the Wreck It Ralph logo, a display for The Muppets, and Walt Disney's limo) and the full gallery below and stay tuned here on Cinema Blend all week for more coverage straight from D23!
