Wes Anderson Starts Shooting His Next Project In The Spring![]()
UPDATE: Production Weekly has added that the movie is called Moonrise Kingdom. No, this doesn't really tell us much, but it'll make it easier to keep tabs on the project going forward.
After the fairly disappointing The Darjeeling Limited it seemed Wes Anderson might have exhausted his prissy, neurotic schtick, but then The Fantastic Mr. Fox proved just how great it can be to step into Anderson's world when done right. So consider me officially on board for whatever Anderson does next, which Production Weekly reports will start filming in the spring. There are no movies about the film, not even a title, but The Playlist has learned that they're looking for a 12-year-old boy and girl for the lead roles. That means it probably won't be The Rosenthaler Suite, the project we first learned he was working on last fall, and well, he was probably joking last fall when he said he wanted to make a movie in space, so it's probably not that. And even though J.J. Abrams is currently shooting Super 8 with adolescent leads, it's probably safe to assume that Anderson's take on kids the same age will be very, very different. I mean, remember what Margot Tenenbaum was like as a middle-schooler? No matter what it is, though, it's a new Wes Anderson project, so get excited. I mean, be prepared for the movie to be overly art directed and somewhat soulless-- I'm just being a realist here-- but it'll probably be worth watching anyway. |
