I'm sure I'm not the only person who's found themselves newly enamored with Wes Anderson, having seen Fantastic Mr. Fox and realized, hey, he hasn't completely sunk into a pit of self-regard and whimsy after all! It's a wonderful feeling, and I'm more than ready to embrace whatever he has coming up next.

Luckily for all of us, Anderson is about to embark on his first remake, a take on the 2006 French film My Best Friend, which he has apparently renamed The Rosenthaler Suite. The Playlist got their hands on the script, and while they say it's merely "nice enough" and could use a second draft, they also pick out some distinctly Anderson-esque touches that should delight his fans. There seem to be parts tailor-made for George Clooney, Anjelica Huston and probably Jason Schwartzman, along with a role that's apparently destined for A Serious Man's Fred Melamed, a.k.a. Sy Abelman.

And Anderson has stayed true to the original script, despite the very different-sounding title: the main character is a ruthless art dealer forced to recognize that he has no friends, who then conscripts a cabbie to pretend to be his best friend in order to win a bet. It's very much not traditional Anderson subject matter-- his characters are usually lonely, yes, but there are no father issues in this script, or any families of any kind. Given what great results he got from shaking things up a little in Fantastic Mr. Fox, his willingness to keep pushing his limits seems only like a good thing.
