Wes Craven Officially Directing Scream 4, Will Shoot In Spring![]()
Wes Craven's involvement in Scream 4 has been as jumpy as one can imagine. One second he's in, then it's somewhat confirmed. Then Craven responds and says that it isn't confirmed. Then Neve Campbell and David Arquette said yes, while Courtney Cox said no. Well, the fog has now cleared and we have our answer: Wes Craven is the director of Scream 4.
Variety is reporting that Dimension Films has officially attached the master of horror to the the sequel that will begin shooting this spring, targeting a release date of April 15th, 2011 (is there any day scarier than tax day?). As previously reported, Cox, Arquette and Campbell will all be back to reprise their roles with younger actors filling out the rest of the cast. Dimension Films always knew exactly what we did: without Wes Craven, there would be no Scream 4. Unlike his 70s/80s counterpart John Carpenter, Craven has done well to keep himself relevant in the film world, with his next film, My Soul To Take, to premiere later this year. Will Scream 4 be a troubling step back for the director that will leave him viewed in mediocrity? Only time will tell, but for now, get ready to be scared shitless by Ghostface again. |
