Wes Craven's My Soul To Take Catches The 3D Bug![]()
I hate 3D. And no, my rage isn’t bubbling over because the last 3D spectacle I caught was M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender; it’s because good movie or bad movie, adding a third dimension is generally pointless and only forces me to cough up more cash. It’s one thing to hear that every other action film or grand fantasy epic that’s due out in the next two years will either be shot in 3D or post converted, but a Wes Craven thriller? Now that’s just wrong.
Anything bearing Craven’s name instantly draws my attention, but this one is particularly exciting considering it’s the first film he’s directed since Red Eye in 2005. (Well, minus his segment in Paris, I Love You.) Now the thought of seeing it is rather daunting because, as Craven tweeted, My Soul to Take will be shown in 2D and 3D. No, I don’t have to see it in 3D, but let’s face it, there’s a standard now; you ain’t cool unless you see it in 3D (said in Billy Madison’s voice). But this is Craven we’re talking about here, so regardless of my 3D aversion, come October 29th, I’ll be in that seat with those silly glasses on my head ready to indulge. The flick is about a legend circulating the quiet town of Riverton about a serial killer who promised to return to claim the lives of seven kids born the night he died. Nobody knows if the tale is fact or fallacy except Adam ‘Bug’ Heller (Max Thierot) who’s been suffering from terrible nightmares ever since his father went insane and committed some bloody crimes. Now it’s up to Bug to save his pals from the evil that’s come to town. |
