Joss Whedon, the brains behind "Buffy The Vampire Slayer", is on a lucrative kick. His directorial debut Serenity is opening September 30th, and his fans are counting down the milliseconds to the premiere. Now Universal Studios has written a big fat paycheck 7-figures-long for his latest film, Goner. Gone are the days of living on take-out and Juju Beans.

According to Variety, Whedon describes Goner as "A story of a young woman's journey that involves a great deal of horror and some heroics. It's certainly darker than 'Serenity' and there are a lot of left turns along the way. It is something I had in mind for a while, and it just poured out of me when I finished my film.”

Whedon is currently preparing his version of Wonder Woman for Warner Brothers, so Goner may not see the light of day for a long while. But it's something for Whedonites to fantasize about in the meantime.

Let us all take a moment to hope that Sarah Michelle Gellar won't be cast as Wonder Woman. If so, I may need to slay myself.
