One of the grandest literary series might finally grace the big screen! Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time has been optioned by Red Eagle Entertainment, in the hopes of a grand movie franchise. The deal involves all ten volumes of Wheel of Time and a prequel novel entitled New Spring.

The first movie will be based on the first book, The Eye of the World. "Eye"tells the story of "Rand, Perrin and Mat, three townsfolk who find their futures on a mission to stop an ancient evil being, the Dark One, from claiming their world. Along the way the three travellers discover their great destinies and unlock the mysteries of their world's past.If successful, then we might see the other volumes adapted as well." (Variety)
