Mike White, the writer of such diverse excellent movies as Chuck and Buck and School of Rock, says that his next script might include a place for Jack Black. While talking to /Film, White said that he is writing a script with Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright. The script will be an adaptation of Jon Ronson’s book, “Them,” to be directed by Wright. During the interview White said, “This thing with Edgar may very well involve Jack. Yeah, I would like to keep doing stuff with Jack, he’s a good friend of mine.” That’s not exactly a sure thing, but Wright added "It’s early days, but I’m sure if it happens, Jack will be involved."
So it all sounds very definitely maybe, which on the Internet is as good as you will get. The movie, Them is described by White as “a conspiracy theory comedy horror movie. It’s a little bit out of my wheel house and a little bit more in his (Edgar’s) wheel house. “ Sounds like it might be kinda fun, especially with Black involved, conspiracy theory comedy horror is in his wheel house if it’s in anyone’s. The book is a non-fiction account of Ronson’s experience with fringe groups like Neo-Nazis and the Waco group. Frankly, if you have White and Black together in a comedy about fringe extremist groups, I’m interested. I already put the book on hold at my local library. Perhaps I’ll do a book report on it and we cast the whole thing, adding Wright’s stock players, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. I hope White and Wright can get going on this script, because it sounds better than another movie about Diane Keaton having sex.
