Zach Snyder blew audiences away earlier this year with 300 and showed just why he’s the right guy to head up the adaptation of another graphic novel, Watchmen, perhaps the most important graphic novel to date. Now you can compete in an opportunity to visit the set of Watchmen by celebrating the upcoming DVD release of 300.

That set visit isn’t the only cool prize being given away in Warner Brothers’ “Join the 300” contest. They are also giving away a couple of trips to San Diego Comic-Con, copies of 300 on DVD, 300 mini-posters signed by Snyder, iPod Shuffles, and more. The big daddy of prizes, however is that set visit.

Here’s how the contest works. You head over to www.jointhe300.com and enter to compete in a couple of different challenges, ranging from mash ups to photographing your own abs (don’t they know comic book geeks don’t have abs?). Using social networking, you get friends and competitors to vote for you as you shoot for 300 points. They’ll randomly select two winners from those who get 300 points. Those winners get a paid trip to San Diego Comic-Con where they’ll compete in yet another task. The winner of that challenge gets the chance to visit the Watchmen set.

Now, some sites are misreporting this as a chance to win a role in Watchmen, but the site clearly states the prize is a set visit, not a walk on role. Still, a set visit is really cool. Just make sure you take lots of photos and send them our way if you win, right?
