When I think of casting wild bad-ass guitar players, Mike Myers is the furthest option from my mind. My first impulse would be to laugh and tell you to get the hell out of town. I guess that's why I am a writer and not a casting director.

According to Variety, Mike Myers will star as drummer Keith Moon from 'The Who'. The untitled feature will be released by Spitfire Pictures, with Roger Daltrey, Nigel Sinclair, and Bill Gerber producing. This film has been considered and discussed at length for years, but is just now seeing the light of day.

Moon was an exceptionally talented drummer, with a rebellious persona. He was infamous for destroying drum sets while Pete Townshend smashed guitars, and he lived for trashing hotel rooms and cars. Not exactly the type of guy you'd want to bring home to meet your grandma, but he was someone you'd brag to your friends about sleeping with. His hard ways of living caught up to him and ended his life in 1978.

Can Myers take the role seriously or will it play like a bad SNL skit? Jury's out on that one.
