MOVIE NEWS
Will Brian Cox Be One Of The Hobbit's Dwarves?![]()
Rumors about casting for the upcoming two Hobbit movies have generally focused on who will play Bilbo, which makes sense given that the dude is in practically every scene and that it will take us a while to forget Elijah Wood's Frodo. But don't forget, there's a whole slew of dwarves who have to be cast too, and if Guillermo del Toro is as careful to give them personalities as Peter Jackson was with the Fellowship, who he picks will matter a whole lot.
There's no official information anywhere yet, of course, but AICN Down Under has picked up on an interesting bit of news-- according to a "tried and trusted" source, Brian Cox is being seriously considered for one of the roles. Hard to imagine anyone arguing with this one-- Cox is an excellent actor with a Scottish brogue that can rival the one John Rhys-Davies used for Gimli, Obviously taking on the role means a gigantic commitment to the shoot in New Zealand, but, come on, he gets to be in the Hobbit. LOTR fans, start preparing your Scottish brogues just in case Cox passes and the opportunity comes to you next. |
