Will Ferrell Gets Racey![]()
If you enjoyed over-the-top comedy Anchorman and built your weekend around seeing The 40 Year-Old Virgin, brace yourself for the next comedic escapade from the team of Adam McKay and Judd Apatown, the men behind Rob Burgundy and Andy Stitzer.
Able to spin ridiculous comedy out of the oddest concepts, McKay has his eyes set on NASCAR. McKay co-wrote and will direct while Apatow is producing. This next film doesn't have a title yet (apparently its previous title Talladega Nights was too hard to pronounce) but it has a cast. Variety reports that Will Ferrel, fresh of his work on The Producers, returns to McKay's fold in the lead role, a no holds barred race car driver named Ricky Bobby. Ferrel also co-wrote the script with McKay. Michael Clarke Duncan plays Lucius Washington, Bobby's pit boss. Gary Cole plays Bobby's estranged father Reese and Sacha Baren Cohen takes on the role of Bobby's villainous rival French racer Jean Girard. The film is set to hit theaters next year and filming begins in September. No word yet on whether or not Ferrell will be doing his own stunt driving. |
