Will Ferrell's driven with a cougar, traveled with a monkey, worn perfume made from a sex panther, gotten advice from a terrier, and hung out with a narwhal but now he'll take on his greatest acting with animals challenge: A talking fly.
Will is attached to star in a movie called Fly on the Wall, a comedy about an anti-social outcast who turns things around, develops self-confidence, and lands a successful relationship with the help of a talking fly best friend. Actually, it sounds a little like Joe's Apartment. Just less gross.
The idea's so crazy it just might work, though it looks like Universal has some concerns. They're funding the project and they've just sent the movie's original Neil Tolkin script for rewrites by Tonight He Comes scripter Vince Gilligan.
The good news I think, is that Ferrell remains attached. I can't imagine this sort of project working with anyone else in the lead. With Ferrell, it could be comic gold.
Watch for Will in theaters soon in the new movie Stranger than Fiction where, instead of communicating with animals he'll be spoken to by a disembodied voice.
